The Government announced today (June 1,2011) that the Minimum Allowable Wage (MAW) for foreign domestic helpers (FDHs) in Hong Kong will be increased by $160 (or 4.5%) from $3,580 to $3,740 per month.
Apart from this, the food allowance in lieu of free food for FDHs will also be increased by $25 (or 3.3%), from not less than $750 to not less than $775 per month. The new levels of the MAW and food allowance will apply to all contracts signed on or after tomorrow (June 2).
Contracts signed with the existing MAW of $3,580 and food allowance of not less than $750 will still be processed by the Immigration Department (ImmD), provided that the applications can reach ImmD on or before June 29, 2011.
On March 1, 2011, the Indonesian Consulate General announced that all renewal and local transfer applications for finish contract helpers in Hong Kong are required to submit a recent and detail medical report or else, those application would be rejected.

菲律賓政府於2010年11月8日宣布,由即日起實施強制性外勞保險計畫。新法例規定所有菲籍外勞在申請出境證時,必須持菲律賓當地保險業公會有效的保單正本,兩年合約期保費共一百四十四美元(約一千二百元);新措施又規定,必須由海外僱主、當地或海外僱傭代理支付,不得由傭工承擔。 On November 8, 2010, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration in Republic of the Philippines announced the implementation of the Compulsory Insurance Coverage for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). All OFWs shall submit to the POEA the original insurance policies cover prior to their deployment. The cost of the insurance premium is the total sum of US$ 144.00 (i.e. around HK$ 1,200.00) for coverage of two (2) years. It is stated that employers of OFWs shall pay the cost of insurance coverage and in no case shall it be charged to the OFWs.

2012年1月23日(農曆年初一至三) 為香港法定假期,如僱員按連續性合約受僱滿三個月便可享有假期。 Jan 23 to Jan 25, 2012 (Lunar New Year's 1st to 3rd Days) are the Statutory Holiday in Hong Kong. An employee having been employed under a continuous contract for not less than 3 months is entitled these holidays.
